Christmas Gift for Lezley arrives late

The Handcrafted custom cedar hope chest made as a Christmas gift for Lezley from her husband Michael will arrive late.
The original plan was to have this special cedar chest ready  to open on Christmas. But once in a while wood runs contrary to plan. So it was with this beautiful yet difficult walnut piece. On the third attempt the wood parts finally machined the way they should and we were able to finish this chest. Too late for Christmas but at least in time to show you and your family what Michael chose for you as a Christmas gift.  He chose rich dark Walnut , Curly Maple, Hard Maple, and Aromatic Cedar from our list of woods for this special Heirloom Chest. It is in a Steinitz style chest with a single framed French style lid and  beaded bun foot base. A Quilt size it measures 42 inches wide 19 inches deep and 22 inches high with feet.

Michael chose our Steinitz style, in rich dark walnut, with single frame French lid inlayed with Curly Maple,  and Hard Maple bunn  feet


Counter balanced hinges allow easy access into family keepsakes.  Lids remain up until you close them. 
Aromatic cedar lines the floor, providing a pleasing, natural aroma for treasures stored within. 
A better look at the single framed lid shows a framework of Dark Walnut with an inlay of Curly Maple.
The Walnut center panel is allowed to float inside the mitered frame to allow for seasonal wood movement.
Michael chose the Steinitz style box that features reeded side and end panels.
Beaded bunn feet out of Hard Maple give this chest a solid footing.
With so many options to choose from, it's easy to make your cedar chest a special one.
