| Handmade custom cedar hope chest for Vivienne McCarthy. She chose Birdseye Maple and Aromatic Cedar from our list of woods for this special Heirloom cedar chest. It is in Walker style with a navy blue leather cushion lid, and rosette chest lifts. This chest is our Quilt size and measures 42 inches wide 19 inches deep and 18 inches high. | Hi, Dale, Hi, Kathy:
Your trunk came last night..... it is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. I love it. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to getting the work done..... you both did a splendid job.... the leather is the perfect color, the trunk smells wonderful, everything about it is 100 times better than anticipated. You can put this on the web. Thanks, blessings, love, Vivienne

The
lid is hinged with a full piano hinge for smooth opening into your keepsakes.
The lid under the leather cushion is 3/4 solid unfinished aromatic cedar
for extra moth protection. |
||
The
back of the chest is good enough to be a front so if some time it sits
away from a wall or bed it still looks nice. |
||
This
picture was taken with a flash, showing the dramatic ripple affect of the
natural mix of dark and light birdseye Maple. |
||
A counter
balance hinge supports the solid lid so it stays open until you close it. |
||
This close
up of the solid brass antique style rosette lift shows the flattened part
of the handle that stops the lift part way up so you won't pinch your fingers
while moving this heave chest around. |
||
Dovetail joints add
extra strength and style to this very beautiful and interesting mix of
natural Birdseye Maple. |
||
Vivienne
wanted this Heirloom piece to have the family name carved in the front
to make it even more special. |
