Walnut  Chest could bring you a joyous Christmas

Handcrafted custom cedar hope chest made for this holiday season. We chose Walnut, Curly Maple, and Aromatic Cedar from our list of woods for this special Heirloom Chest. It is in Walker style with a single frame wooden lid. The base has a classic molded trim and 3 1/2 " scroll feet. This chest is our Blanket size and measures 36 inches wide 19 inches deep and 22 inches high. You may also chose to add a lock, a very personal laser engraving inside the lid, a brass plate, a tray, half tray, or hand carving to add your own personal touches.

Counter balanced hinges allow easy access into family keepsakes.  Lids remain up until you close them.
To keep things together we chose the half blind dovetail joint that you see in fine furniture that has stood the test of time.
A half blind dovetail joint does not show on one face so as not to break the line in the design and look of the front of the chest yet adds mechanical strength in this piece.

The classic molded trim breaks the vertical line of the chest as it comes to the floor and is attached to the bottom of the chest with glue and screws for that extra measure of strength. The handsome scroll feet lift the chest 3 1/2" off the floor to add beauty and make it easier to get under to pick up and move. They are screwed to the base then removed for shipping.
The lid of this chest is a single frame wooden top using Walnut, Purple Heart, and Curly Maple stained with a deep walnut finish . The close up picture on the right shows the ripple in the grain that is typical of Curly Maple.
